

Location
Crofton is a commuter village of some 7,000 residents located three miles to the south of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Close to the M1, A1 and M62 motorways, it is 25 minutes drive to Leeds, 30 minutes to Sheffield, 60 minutes to Manchester and 60 minutes to Hull.

Facilities
Surrounded by open countryside, the village has a comprehensive selection of local services including a modern health centre, two primary schools and one high school. There are numerous shops including several village supermarkets.
In addition there is a village community centre, community library and a Working Men's Club.
Sports
There is a large sports field within the village, and a number of country parks/walks are either walkable or a short drive away.
Transport
Public transport links are good with several bus routes passing through the village at up to 15 minute intervals. National train services can be accessed from the main station in Wakefield with direct services to London, Birmingham and the south west.

Locality
The area has a rich cultural heritage. Nostell Priory, a Georgian house maintained by the National Trust is a short walk away from the village. Pontefract with it's castle and racecourse is 7 miles away.
The Hepworth Art Gallery, The National Coal Mining Museum, and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park are all national attractions in the Wakefield area.
Other locations worth a visit within the boundary of Wakefield are Sandal Castle, the scene of the Battle of Wakefield, Newmillerdam Country Park with it's lake and boathouse and Pugneys Country Park with it's light railway and play area.
